Why should I read the Bible?

Many people, start the new year by setting New Years resolutions. We wrote a post, during January of this year, in which we put a Christian twist on some modern, 21st Century resolutions. A very popular one for Christians today, especially younger ones, is to read some or even all of the Bible. By doing this, they receive a sense of achievement along with the thought they now understand the Bible and its meaning better.

In this post we will be looking at why you should read the Bible and how. We will also giving you information about our new and upcoming series.

We have constructed a list of the most important reasons you should read your Bible.

1. The Bible is not just not a boring book.

As I have already explained the Bible is not a book that should be read like a normal book. The Bible is a book of advice. Recently we did a post here on RCGhub all about your Bible being your guide-book for life. The more we look closely into the Bible and understand what it means for us, we become wiser, and intern make better decisions in out life.

2. It brings you back to faith.

In the 21st Century, it is very easy to get very caught up in our religion. You can go through all the motions that religion dictates, but it means nothing without your faith with God. When we read our Bible, we open ourselves up to remembering our amazing faith.

3. It is not just a story book (video).

4. The Bible is a Best Seller

100 millions copies of the Bible are bought or given out each year! By comparison the Harry Potter series – 7 books in all – sold only 400 million copies total and no one expects it to keep pace. Also, there is nothing to suggest it will become a classic and I doubt existing owners are buying second, third or even fourth copies of each book in the series.

5. Learn a bit of history

Many of the books in the Bible are history books. There is plenty of archaeological proof of biblical stories. The Bible is full to the brim with real history.

From next Tuesday, there will be a new series on RCGhub called Bible Verse Tuesday. Each Tuesday a post will be uploaded here, in which will be looking just one verse from the Bible and tell you what it means for you. These posts will be uploaded in the morning and should be quick and easy to read.
