Prayer in everyday situations – Part 1

Prayer is the communication between you and God.  As a child it get’s described as a phone call between you and God. I think this is a great description as it reminds you that prayer can be used throughout daily life, anywhere, any place and any time.

We phone people for lots of reasons; to say thank you, sorry, ask questions and for help. We can also pray for all of these. However often things get in the way; family, friends, work and school. Often we forget to pray or just can’t be bothered to take the time out of daily life to pray.

If you look at the bible Jesus takes time out to go and pray. Before Jesus was going to be arrested Jesus prayed to God even upon the cross Jesus prayed. Luke 23,34 says Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Jesus’s final words were a prayer before he died on the cross. Luke 23:46 says “Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. When he had said this, he breathed his last.” Even when Jesus was in the most excruciating pain he still prayed and talked to God.

The disciples asked Jesus how to pray and he tells them not to pray so everyone will listen and not to think they are better because they have a longer or fancier prayer but to make prayer a personal conversation between them and God.

If you have enjoyed reading this post, then we would thoroughly suggest you take a look our part 2, in which we continue to discuss the topic of prayer.
