Famous Christians: You don’t stand alone!

Standing in life, knowing that God is there beside you, always with you, is something we can never truly comprehend; God created us so that he could have a relationship with us. God is there for you. As it says in Psalm 46, ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’

Romans 3

‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.’

– Romans 3:23-24

The extremely simplified diagram above briefly sums up the relationship between us and God explained here by Paul in Romans chapter 3.

However, today I am not here to talk to you about how ‘You are not alone’ , I’m talking about the millions of Christians around the world who have faith in exactly the same God as you, in particular, the famous ones. I have compiled a list of some celebrities whose faith in Jesus Christ has brought them to where they are today.

nick vuj.jpgBorn in 1982, he is an Australian Christian evangelist and motivational speaker born with Phocomelia, an extremely rare disorder characterised with a lack of arms and legs. However Nick hasn’t let this stop him, he got married in 2012 and has had 2 children since. He urges people who the way to find hope even in the hardest of situations, such as his own is not to just stay positive, but to find strength in a personal relationship with God.

He once said, “If God can use a man without arms and legs to be his hands and feet, then he can certainly use any willing heart!”

Do you believe..? he has risen!

“Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. The stone was very large. They entered the tomb. As they did, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe. He was sitting on the right side. They were alarmed.” – Mark 16:4-5

The day after Jesus’s death, Saturday was the Sabbath which meant Jesus’s burial was quite hurried. This is because in the Torah it states that no Jew should work on the Sabbath. So on the Sunday, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went to prepare the body properly. But when they arrived, as we read here in Mark, the stone to the entrance, “had been rolled away”. In Matthew 28:2 we discover this could have been because “at that time there was a strong earthquake”. Despite this, “when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus”.

Some of the Gospels go on and say how the woman “saw a young man dressed in a white robes…that gleamed like lightning stood beside them”.

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. But he has risen! He is not here! See the place where they had put him. Go! Tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. It will be just as he told you.’ ” – Mark 16:6-7

In Matthew, this man becomes an angel and in Luke, probably written for a non-Jewish audience, he becomes two angel-like men. On the other hand, in John’s gospel, this part of the account is left out.

No matter who they met in the tomb, the women returned from the tomb to tell the eleven disciples what had happened. “Later Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples as they were eating.” The preceding verse is one I would like to focus on today.

“He spoke firmly to them because they had no faith. They would not believe those who had seen him after he rose from the dead.” –  Matthew 16:14

Jesus died for you

As we come up to Easter, I would like to ask you one very simple question. Have you ever thought about the extent of that Jesus did for you, when he died on the cross? He endured pain, suffering and numerous beatings. Jesus didn’t deserve to die, he had lived a perfect live and was God’s only son. But he still dies for us. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” He chose to send his only son to die. He did it for you. “So that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16.

Joshua Eugene Harris is an American pastor and author, perhaps most widely known as the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, in which he explains what he believes to be the biblical approach to dating and relationships. You can find his blog here. Joshua Harris has written an amazing short story about a dream he had of a room filled with filing cabinets that contained all the actions of my life, both good and bad. You can view the story in video form below or if you would like to read the whole poem, click on the ‘Continue Reading’ link below.

As we come up to Easter there will be more posts, trying to get you to think about what Jesus really did for you, on that fateful day. However, don’t feel bad if you have never really considered this in great detail and you have just enjoyed Easter Sunday and resurrection. That is fine. But this year, follow RCG to find out more and spend some time, just contemplating what Jesus really did for you.

Anne Franks Faith

I know you probably weren’t expecting this post and I agree,  it is not the type of post we normally upload to RCGhub. However as I was reading ‘The Diary of Anne Frank’, it occurred to me that even after hiding from the Nazis for two years in her families ‘Secret Annex’, she still believed that God was with her. In my opinion this is one of the greatest examples of how, if you put all you trust in the Lord, he will help you get through anything.

The extract below comes from a entry in Anne’s world famous diary, on the 31st March 1944.

My life has improved, greatly improved. God has not left me alone and will not leave me alone.

I would like to leave you with one question today, how much do you trust God?

Please comment, like and subscribe, to receive notification of new posts via email. Also if you are reading this post and you have spent many years of your life studing Anne Frank, and believe I have told any incorrect facts above, we are extremely sorry and hope you understand.

Feel free to get in touch if you wish to ask for more advice or to ask questions you might have after reading this post.
