If you every need something to cheer you up, or your having a bad day. What makes you happy? What lifts up your spirits? For some people, listening to music helps, or for others, relaxing in a comfortable quiet space works best.
However, I would like to challenge that by saying that next time you are having a bad day or you have forgotten how great Gods love is, open your Bible to roughly the middle and read some of the book of Psalms.
To help you with this, over the course of 5 weeks, till the middle of March, every week I and the rest of the team here at RCG will upload their favorite Psalms. So look forward to regular Psalms over the next few weeks. If you would like to receive these via email and you aren’t already getting our posts via email; at the top of the blog, on the right hand side, enter your email address and hit subscribe.
Over the next few weeks there will be a series of posts all about how God is always with you even if you doubt his word. We will dive deep into his word and give verses and the stories they relate. Hopefully is your relationship with God is not great at the moment then this series of post will help your relationship grow strong again.
God, who delivered me from the teeth of the lion and the claws of the bear, will deliver me from this Philistine.” Saul said, “Go. And God will help you!”
– 1 Samuel 17:37
This is the story of David and Goliath. Saul was the king of the Philistine people at this time and in this verse he is reminding David that God will be with him throughout the battle against Goliath.
David was the youngest in his family who’s job it was to protect his fathers sheep in the day and through the night. Often bears and lions would threaten to kill the sheep. It was David’s job to use his sling shot to hit the bear and scare it off.
We can see in this verse that Saul is telling David, that God wants him to know that he has protected him against the teeth of lions and so will protect him against the mighty Goliath.
