RCG’s History and Future

RCG's History and Future Thumbnail

On the 31st of December 2011, RCG was born. Originally our URL was rscellgroup.wordpress.com, as our main focus was to upload our questions and answers from our cell group meetings online. The RCG Team had been meeting up every month for some time prior and then at Christmas decided to start upload the meeting, for you to read. Originally, we posted these questions on RCG and our creative prayer and worship idea posts were uploaded on a blog called mybibleonline. These two blogs worked side by side, and all of their content was produced by the RCG team. However, there was only one problem, we soon found out that, questions about Bible passages and answers wasn’t what you wanted to read and share.

So about two years later, in the January of 2013, RCG completely changed direction. That was when we started to write weekly Christian posts on topics you want to read. Despite, changing direction and supposedly writing posts you wanted to read, views on RCG were sparse. Looking back on our old posts from 2013 and early 2014, we never actually spent time writing the posts and most of them were, update, apologetic or coming soon posts. Our URL’s changed more times than I can remember over the year of 2013/2014.

Eventually, our current URL, rcghub.wordpress.com arrived. Along with came a new tagline helping you get closer to God, the ethos behind all of our content. After writing content that seemed to be attracting your and the rest of the internet’s attention our views started to rise; at last. Our visitor views rose from 117 in 2013, to 269 in 2014.

With our views, likes and followers slowly rising, everything was going well. In 2014, we wanted increase the quality of the content on RCGhub. So since around April 2014 until now we have uploaded high quality, interesting posts at least once or twice or more a week. In February of 2015 we started our first ever series, God is with you. Since then we have written more series, including our best ever, RCG Christmas Series 2015 and can’t wait for the future of RCG. In 2015, our views over doubled those of that in 2014. It was all made possible because of you!

We hope to get more people in to write guest posts for the blog on their relationship with God, continue to create YouTube videos on as part of RCGMedia, and maybe even continue the RCGRecipe’s. There is all of this to look forward to, more and of course our high quality weekly posts.

After some discussions we realized, that to streamline the content and posts on RCGhub, and the pages on TheScape, to what you really want to read, and need, we needed to write an ‘About’ page which included our aims, posting schedule, ethos, explanation of the different sections of RCG (e.g. RCGMedia) and much more.

Sadly, this is not yet complete. So I am going to leave you today, thinking about what RCG’s aims and ethos could be and allow you to view the page so far. We hope to find the page in the coming months. While you’re at it, remember to subscribe, to receive an email/notification, every time a post is uploaded here on RCGhub and share this post with your friends and family.

Thank You!

None of us got to where we are alone. Whether the assistance we received was obvious or subtle, acknowledging someone’s help is a big part of understanding the importance of saying thank you.

I’m not sure if it is possible to put into words how much the whole of the RCG team is thankful for you. Yes you reading this post! Wether you reading this in your email browser or on Google Chrome, whether you’re a teenager or an adult. We would like to say thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. If your one of the 255 American people, over 2000 British people, 20 French people or just one of the kind and selfless South African people who view our blog, we love you.

God is with you – #6

As we draw this series to a close I hope we have either made you think about starting, reminded you or strengthened your relationship with our heavenly father. Here at RCG  we strive to ‘Help you get closer to God’ and I hope that is what this series has done.

Be watchful; stand firm in the faith; act like men; be strong. Let all that you do, be done everything in love.

1 Corinthians 16-13:14

Personally, the passage above gives me guidance on how I should live my life to make God happy and to complete his plans for my life. To help me remember these two verses and so I can read it every day, it is in a frame at the end of my bed. So when I wake up, I can read it. Click here to download the verse to print out for yourself your youth group.

This whole series has been about how God is with you and how he gave us life, so that we could live. Because of this, God promised to everyone that carefully created, that he would never leave them. But this verse says that in  everything you do, you should stick to you faith and let all that you do be done in love.

God loves you more than you can imagine, no matter who you are, what race you are, what gender you are. So you should love your Neighbours (everyone you meet) and your Lord in the same way.
