Is Christmas still a Christian event?
Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’s birthday however over recent years it may seem to some that Christmas is no longer a christian event. This is probably to do with the fact that the media rarely shows the religious element. This probably isn’t helped by the fact that companies use the Christmas season as an excuse to sell things. Although this is true people still celebrate Christmas as a religious event some of this may be down to family traditions which have been rooted into Christmas life. For example, I have friends who probably wouldn’t class themselves as Christians go to church on the 25th. I am not sure if this is just the UK or specifically where I live but in most primary schools the nativity story is taught and preformed. This means children even if they do not come from a religious family learn about why we celebrate Christmas.
